Mathura, 2018.05.17 (VT): The newly appointed Vice Chairman of MVDA is also a commissioner of the Municipal Corporation and plans to use his dual positions to ensure that Government Departments liaise with each other and carry out development work in a timely and systematic manner. At a press conference on Monday, Commissioner Sameer Verma promised to will work hard so that heritage protection work goes ahead.
Verma said that he will work to ensure the proper implementation of the Amrit Project, under which Braj’s parks are being beautified and water and sewage services are being improved. The commissioner promised to undertake development work after consultation with locals and said that he wants to make Braj so attractive that even more people will be attracted to come here and stay for a few days in the Holy Dham.
The MVDA and the Municipal Corporation are now working together to create a list of parks needing development. Verma said that he is ready to listen to requests from residents who feel that the park in their neighbourhood needs development and beautification.
The commissioner instructed officials to persuade Laddoo Gopal to stop his hungerstrike which he undertook after being bitten by a monkey. Verma assured that action will be taken to reduce the monkey population in Mathura-Vrindavan. He also instructed General Manager of the Water Department, Manju Rani Gupta, to fix the water problem at Bhuteshwar intersection. Verma said that he wants to be informed immediately when the problem is fixed so that he can go there and drink the first glass of water.
