Mathura, 2018.03.19 (VT) Several residents have sustained burns and dozens of trees have been lost after a fire in Karahari on Saturday afternoon. The fire started from the dry grass and cow dung and spread quickly in the hot dry conditions.Residents struggled for an hour to put out the fire, using water pumped from the submersible pumps in people’s home tubewells.
A fire truck from Mant eventually arrived on the scene, but the truck took an hour to reach the site and contained insufficient water to subdue the flames. Residents involved in fighting the fire sustained injuries and livestock, including several buffalo, sustained burns.
SDM Varun Pandey instructed officers of the revenue department to inspect the damage and arrange for compensation.
