Vrindavan, 2018.02.05 (VT) Despite the protests of Mathura residents and officials, who claim that the passport office should be opened in Mathura, external Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj has announced that the new passport office will be at the main post office in Vrindavan.
Hema Malini has been agitating for a passport office in Braj so that locals will not have to make the trip to Delhi to get passports. Mathura is the business center of Braj, so was the likely place for the passport office, however the apathy of the Mathura post office officials is being given as the reason for the Vrindavan’s post office being chosen as the best place for the new passport office.
On Tuesday, a team from the Passport Office in Ghaziabad came to survey the building. Senior Postmaster, Umrao Singh, said that if everything is deemed to be in order, the final approval will be given for the passport office to be built in Vrindavan.
