Vrindavan, 2017.01.19 (VT): The 155th appearance day of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated at Rama Krishna Mission in Vrindavan on Thursday. Six hundred blankets were distributed among the poor to stave off the cold. Around eight hundred poor children were fed during this occasion.
The Divine celebration began at 5. 30 with Mangalarati, in the Rama Krishna Temple situated in the Rama Krishna Mission campus. The devotional celebration included the Vedic chanting, bhajans, puja, homa and yajna.
The patients admitted in the hospital run by Rama Krishna Mission were also worshipped as Rogi Narayan. The patients admitted in the ‘Sevashrama’ were worshiped with garlands, flowers, sandal paste, sweets etc. Daridra Narayan seva was performed at noon in which hundreds of poor were fed sumptuously by the monks of the mission.
Rama Krishna Mission is the biggest charity in Vrindavan, which runs a 176 bedded hospital, which has become the life line for Vrindavan’s healthcare. Apart from running the hospital, the institution runs a Nursing School, which gives opportunity to 30 students every year, to learn nursing.
Rama Krishna Mission Sevashrama undertakes several other relief and welfare works in time to time. Free ration is distributed to the widows, whereas the scholarship is given to the poor students. Swami Suprakashananda, the Mahanta of the Rama Krishna Math said, “Our seva is inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. One should see God in every one.”
He quoted the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, which says: “The poor and the miserable are for our salvation, so that we may have the greatest privilege in our lives to serve the Lord, coming in the shape of the distressed, the lunatic, the leper, the sinner.”
