Vrindavan 2016.07.04 (VT): The illegal encroachment in the Rajpur village of Vrindavan doesn’t seem to have an end in view. Encroachers are advancing day by day on land that legally belongs to the Rajpur Village Committee, and the city administration has yet to take any action against it.
As per the FIR filed by the All India Brahmin Association (AIBA), a so-called sadhu is trying to illegally occupy half a hectare of land by putting up hoardings of the Samajwadi Party, the ruling party of the State. This land had previously been squatted on earlier as well, but was cleared by the orders of SDM Sadar on July 30 2014. The AIBA has requested the DM to free this Government land again and has also drawn attention to other properties that are being encroached on by the land mafia.
The AIBA Chairman from Patharpura, Ramnath Sharma, and Vice Chairman Madangopal Banerjee reported this issue to the District Magistrate Nikhil Chandra Shukla. The AIBA secretary, Damodar Sharan said that the squatters built a temporary tin shed overnight, encircling it with bamboo sticks. At the same they are seen to be preparing to build a more permanent construction.
Ramnath Sharma said that the Government has to take quick actions to free this land from the encroachers and give it back to the village committee. Should action not be taken, the AIBA will run a mass protest against it. MLA Radha Vallabh Mishra, Lalit Kishor Sharma, Bhaivar Lal, Rajkumar Sharma, Bhupal Prasad Sharma were present during the AIBA meeting.
