Vrindavan, 2015.10.24 (AU): Many celebrations are on tap to mark the 500th anniversary of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s coming to Vrindavan in the month of November. At least three major committees have been organized separately to carry on the festivities, each with a different emphasis. The President, the Governor and the Chief Minister and will include many more celebrities. This event is a time when the final step of the Panchayati elections will be underway, so authorities have already begun making special security preparations for the occasion.
Most of the celebrations will take place in the last week of Karttik, i.e., the 17th to 25th of November, which concludes with Karttik Purnima, the actual day Mahaprabhu set foot in Vrindavan. The main even will be held in the Chaitanya Mahaprabhu temple. Due to the large number of Chaitanya devotees in Vrindavan, it was impossible to fit all the different programs under a single umbrella organism, which led to the numerous festivals. Of course, other temples will also have their own separate commemorative celebrations.
The President Pranab Mukherjee, Governor Ram Naik, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, and of course, local MP Hema Malini, have all been invited to one or more of the programs and are expected to participate.
At present, the district administration has been notified of the President’s arrival in Vrindavan on November 18. It is also certain that the UP Governor will be present one day before him on the 17th. will surely. The Governor will preside over the convocation at Mathura’s Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Veterinary University. It is not yet clear whether the governor will remain that night in Mathura or return to Lucknow to return on the 18th, where he will receive the President.
Also very likely to come on November 18 is Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. The district administration is preparing for his arrival in expectation of his official acceptance of the invitation.
It is to be noted that the Panchayati elections will be going on during that period. In view of this, the district administration has already started making preparations. The DM Rajesh Kumar and SSP Dr Rakesh Kumar have already come to Vrindavan to take stock of the venue sites, including the helipad. The officials concerned have been directed to make the necessary arrangements for security.
The president will take darshan of Radha Raman. This will be the second time that he has visited Vrindavan. The first time he came was last year on November 14th to lay the foundation stone for the Vrindavan Chandrodaya temple. This time he is coming on the occasion of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s Vrindavan arrival five hundred year ago. Meanwhile, he also expressed the desire to visit the Radharaman temple. Afterwards he will go to the Amiya Nimai temple in Gopinath Bazaar. Also on his itinerary is a speech at the Parameshwari Devi Dhanuka girls’ school in Raman Reti.
