SHREE YAMUNAJI NI  AARTI

Pushtimarg Yamuna aarti – Gujarati with English translation:

Jaya jaya Shree Yamunaa maa,  jaya jaya Shree Yamunaa (2)
Jotaan janama sudhaaryo
dhanya dhanya tame  Yamunaa  … Maa jaya jaya     1

Praise to you, praise to you Shree Yamuna Maa. You have reformed and mended
the birth and life of those beings who have been fortunate to have your divine
darshana, You are praiseworthy, you are blessed, O divine Shree Yamuna, we
praise you, O Yamuna Maa….. !(1)

Shaamaladee surata maa,  (2) moorata maadhuree
Prema sahita pataraanee maa,
paraakrame poora… Maa jaya jaya   2

You are beautifully black in complexion like your beloved Lord Shree Krishna. Your beautiful
countenance (face) is extremely sweet, auspicious and benign; you are beloved Pataraanee of
Bhagawan Shree Krishna with your heart full of love for your Lord. You are magnanimous.
You are perfectly powerful and full of prowess. We  praise  you, O Yamuna Maa…..! (2)

Gahevara vana chaalyaa maa (2) gambheere gheryaa
Chundadeeye chatakalaan maa
paheryaa ne laheryaa…Maa jaya jaya   3

You flow  in grand, majestic way in Gahevaravana. O Maa, you look admirably beautiful with
serenity and benignity. Chundaree (saree) you have worn is, bright and brilliant and it
beautifully waves in the wind. It seems as if a beautiful bride wearing beautifully hued,
brilliant saree passes through beautiful regions of Vraj in majestic, magnanimous, serene way.
We praise you, O Yamuna Maa ….!  (3)

Bhuja kankana roodaan maa (2) gujareeyaa choodee
Baajubandha ne berakhaa  maa
pahonchee ratna jadee…Maa jaya jaya   4

How beautiful are the bangles that you have worn on your arms ! How fascinating are the
wristlets that you have held in the fashion of milk-maids-folk. You have put on armlets and
amulets. You have worn beautiful, attractive wristlets which are artistically studded with
lustrous gems. Your devotees become extremely glad by having your darshana in this divine
form, Wepraise you, O Shree Yammer Maa….. ! (4)

Zaanzarane zamake maa(2)
vichheeyaane thamake , Nepoorane naade maa
ghughareene ghamake…Maa jaya jaya   5

When you walk, the beautiful anklets you have put on your holy feet, make the ear-pleasing
jingling sound. The sweet jingling sound of ‘rum zum, rum zum’ fills the atmosphere with
sweet music. And ‘Thummak thummak’ sound of rings worn by you on your toes is
pleasurable. The ringing of the anklets and the tinkling of the ornaments worn on the feet
make the atmosphere pleasant with lilting music. We praise you, O Shree Yamuna Maa….. !

Sole shanagaara sajyaa maa, (2)
nakavesara motee, Aabharanamaan opo chho
darpana mukha jotaan… Maajaya jaya   6

You look very much adorning. You have equipped yourself with sixteen Shringar – sixteen
forms of embellishment, and so you appear extraordinarily beautiful, lovely and divinely
charming. You have worn the pearly nose-ring which sheds luster. You look marvelously
majestic with divine ornaments and jewelry you have worn. The devotees hold before you the
mirror which reflects your beautiful face. We praise you O Shree Yamuna Maa…… ! (6)

Tata antara roodaan maa,(2)shobhita jala bhariyaan
Manavaanchhita muraleedhara
Sundara vara variyaan…Maa jaya jaya   7

You are adorned with green, beautiful banks on both of your sides. You flow majestically
between these two banks, you look extremely adorning with vast expanse of water. You have
fulfilled the desire of your mind and have wedded to beauteous shyaama sundara Lord Shree
Krishna, the holder of sweet flute, the beautiful flute-player of Vrindaavana. We praise  you, O
Shree Yamuna Maa…..!.(7)

Laala kamala lapatyaa maa, (2)
jovaane gyaataa, Kahe ‘Madhava’ parikrammaa
Shree vrajanee karavaane gyaataa…Maa jaya jaya   8

You were enticed by beholding beautiful, red lotuses and you loved them so much that you
have worn the garland of lotus-flowers, and have offered the garland of lotus-flowers to your
beloved Lord Shree Krishna. The vaishanva – pilgrims like us very often come to behold the
divine, beautiful svaroopa of Shree Yamuna Maa ! adorned with garland of beautiful lotus
flowers. The devotee-poet Maadhavadaasa says that those who had gone to have
circumambulation – the holy round of Vraja were blessed with the darshana of Shyaama
Sundara Shree Yamune Mahaa-raanee. We praise  you, O Shree Yamuna Maa…. !  (8)

Shree Yamunaajeenee aarti maa,
vishraama ghaate thaaya (2)Tetreesha karoda devataa maa (2)
darshana karavaa jaaya,
tyaan pushpanee vrushti thaaya…Maa jaya jaya   9

Shree Yamunaajee’s ‘aarti’ is performed everyday on the Vishraama Ghaata in Mathura.
Thirty-three millions of deities come here to have divine darshana of Shree Yamuna Maa and
shower upon her fragrant heavenly flowers from their respective air-planes. We praise you, O
Shree Yamunaa Maa…… ! (9)

Shree Yamunaajeenee aarti maa,
je koyee gaashe, maa je bhaave gaashe,
tenaa janama janamanaa sankata
sarve doora thaashe,
teno vrajamaan vaasa thaashe…Maa jaya jaya   10

Shree Yamunaajee is so gracious that she will surely remove all sins and calamities of all the
births of those devotees who sing the ‘aarti’ of Shree Yamunaajee with devout sentiment. She
will bless such devotees with divine dwelling in Vrajland. We praise you, O Shree Yamuna
Maa….. ! (10)
Aatli vinanti karu Maa tam charane raakho Maa (2)
Daas karine stapo, Vraj ma vaas aapo Maa jaya jaya 11

I humbly request Shree Yamunamaa to bless me with refuge by your feet. Please
let me  serve you forever, whilst I dwell  in Vrajdham.
