Vrindavan, 2011.01.26 (AU) । The Akhila Bharatiya Rakshak Dal and Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) held a demonstration at the Bankhandi corner yesterday condemning irregularities in the progress of the Vrindavan Project work. As a part of the demonstration they burned a “foreigner” in effigy, saying that foreigners were to blame for interfering with progress, particularly in the matter of the Keshi Ghat flyover.
Swami Mohanananda Lal Baba said, “Foreigners come here professing to engage in bhakti, but then they open temples and start NGOs, making a business out of religion. They may be doing volunteer work and so on, but they are getting their hands terribly dirty.”
Om Prakash Pachauri and Bhagavan Das Chaudhary of the BKU complained of irregularities in the Vrindavan Project work. Suspicions surround nearly every aspect of the construction, they said. “Roads that were just built recently are already starting to fall apart.”
“We are communicating with the Home Office and the Foreign Office to rid us of the foreigners who are creating a disturbance and interfering with the work,” they said. “If necessary we will start Public Interest Litigation to this end.”
In a flyer distributed by the demonstrators, the residents of Lakshmirani Kunj and their foreign agents were described as “owls” (ullu), outsiders who out of selfish interest were sabotaging progress on public works projects like the Keshi Ghat flyover.
Participating in the demonstration were Harprasad Shastri, Bal Mukund Jha, Suresh Chand Sharma, Devendranath Shastri, Niranjan Tomar and others.
